Personality: Quiet, Carnelian exhibits the traits of a prince on the outside and among his people. He carries himself with an air of charm and walks with a regality that only a prince could. However under the surface he is a big ol' nerd. He loves gems, rocks and all things sparkly. He'd rather spend time inside looking at gems than go to a party. However he will socialize when he needs to and do it well.

The result of a one night stand between Flam and Amira of Saddle Arabia, Carnelian has a close relationship with his mother. He doesn't spare any energy thinking about his father. He's not in his life so why care? 

Carnelian has a very close relationship with his cousin Arkansas Black. The pair meet when Amira goes to Ponyville to meet with Twilight and Apple Bloom reveals that Arkansas is Carnelian's cousin. From then the pair are inseparable. Carnelian spends a lot of time in Ponyville after, meeting Maud and apprenticing under her.

I drew a bunch of pictures of this guy and Arkansas last night and I had to do his bio. Another one who's design I like. I have to point out that Flam has zero interest in getting to know his son unlike Flim who wants to find his daughter.
